At Lake Erie Sports Alliance (LESA), our vision for the future revolves around fostering a thriving grassroots house league hockey program that not only nurtures a love for the sport but also serves as a cornerstone for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in hockey. We aspire to create an inclusive environment where every child in Erie, PA, regardless of their background, can access and enjoy the game of hockey. Our vision is to see the community come together, united by the passion for the sport, building strong foundations for our young athletes, and instilling values that extend beyond the rink.
To realize our vision, L.E.S.A. adopts a comprehensive approach. We actively engage with local schools, communities, and families to identify and overcome barriers to participation. Through need-based scholarships and collaborative partnerships, we aim to make ice sports accessible to all, irrespective of economic or social factors. Our approach extends beyond the ice, focusing on character development, teamwork, and life skills, instilling in our players the qualities that will serve them well both on and off the rink.
As we break down barriers to playing the great sport of hockey, we aim to see a surge in participation, fostering a sense of inclusivity and belonging among young athletes. This will not only strengthen the local hockey scene but also enrich the lives of countless children who might otherwise have been excluded from the sport. Ultimately, our efforts are aimed at developing an equitable and accessible future for hockey, setting a precedent for inclusivity that extends well beyond our rink and into the broader world of sports.
